Three Whatcom Cases Linked to Evergreen Fresh Broccoli Sprouts Salmonella Outbreak
We are working with state health officials investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Bovismorbificans linked to broccoli sprouts produced by Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC of Idaho. Sprouts were sold at grocery stores and served in restaurants in Whatcom County, but we do not have a confirmed list of all the locations where they were sold or served. Anyone with these sprouts should throw them away.

As of September 2, 2026, 13 people in Washington have become ill, with illness onset dates ranging from July 7 to August 18. Of the 12 people interviewed, eight reported eating sprouts from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts, LLC. Seven ate broccoli sprouts; the variety the eighth person ate is unknown. The sprouts were purchased from grocery stores and restaurants in Washington State. Three additional people are infected with the same strain of Salmonella: 2 from Montana and 1 from Idaho.
Sprouts samples from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts and other suppliers are currently undergoing testing at the Washington State Public Health Laboratory.
This Salmonella outbreak is unrelated to the recent multistate Salmonella and E. coli outbreak traced to alfalfa sprouts produced by Everything Sprouts, LLC in Minnesota.
